OMG! OMG.Yahoo has an article featuring Courteney Cox’s bikini body.  At 46 Cox is sporting a hot body, and the author Lizbeth Scordo, referred to her as “hot mama Courteney Cox.  She also begs the question, “but how does she stay in such great shape?”  Lizbeth, credited trainer Michele Lovitt, as the one whose training routines with Cox help her keep that bikini body.

She listed six exercises from one of the routine Lizbeth does with Cox to maintain her hot body.  The 6 exercises sound like basic exercises until you read the instructions.  They are, in my opinion not for the majority of people who are carrying some extra weight and who have never set foot in a gym.

I had a hard time understanding the instructions and doing them comfortably, maybe it was the terminology used.  I guess that is why you’d need a personal trainer to work with you. Below I listed the exercises mentioned in the article, that when done will get you Cox's bikini body.

1.      Squats
2.      One Legged Deadlifts
3.      Reverse lunges
4.      Supermans
5.      Chair Pose
6.      Half Moon Pose
 I thought it was just me who had a difficult time understanding the instructions, until I read some of the posted comments, one in particular by Nonparieldolls.  I totally agree with her.  Here is a part of her comment.

“If anyone actually reads the article, it is a joke, right? I'd like to see the average person who could perform those "simple" exercises. Especially from the description given, with no pictures. And I most especially would NOT want to see someone seriously overweight attempt one of them, not without paramedics standing by.”

If you understand the instructions and have the equipments needed if any or have the money for a personal trainer, then go for it and enjoy your new hot body-bikini body.

Some of the posted comments mentioned Courteney’s money and not having a regular 9-5 as to her hot bikini body.  That maybe so; however, I have a friend in her mid 50’s with a very hot body.  She works a regular 9-5 and works hard.

One difference is that she doesn’t have any kids and oh, she is now single. This particular friend has been able to maintain her hot body with a strict, disciplined life style.

She eats healthy wholesome meals with lots of fiber, vegetables and nuts and rarely eats after 7:00pm.  After 7:00pm it would be shakes, nuts or fruits, if she gets hungry.  She has some basic floor exercises that she does every day, including stretching.  She also walks for 45 minutes to 1 hour at least 3 times a week and would put in what she calls her long walk which is for 2 hours once a week.

I have been out on her long walks on several occasions and they lasted 21/2 hours long.  Now that may be extreme for some of you, but it is what she does to keep a hot body.

She makes those sacrifices, she doesn’t pay a trainer.  She uses basic common sense, discipline and dedication and listens to Dr. Oz.  She makes the time to go walking.  She doesn’t find time, she makes it.  Now I understand some of you may not have the discipline to make time or control your eating habits.

But what if, you started making a little changes by maybe cutting out or cut down on your daily $5.00 coffee or cigarettes or weekly alcohol or daily fast food run?  And what if with the money you saved, you do what  Ms. T. Whiteman did?

Earlier today I was on a phone conferencing call with some very excited business partners.  It turned out that the majority of the call leaders and some of the guest speakers were in Jamaica.

Yes, celebrating their free trip from the parent company for certain achievement of helping people lose weight and changing their lives. They are all living a somewhat stress free life style but it has not always been that way.

One lady in particular, Cala had a heart wrenching story.  She said, she got into Network Marketing, with a skin care company right after college.  She did well but many people had a hard time selling the products and the business.

If you're walking around with excess belly fat, an article written by Lisa Collier Cool, for Yahoo!Health, may be an eye opener for you. The article entitled, Body FatPercentage—The Best Measure of Health Risks will shed some light on the hazards of carrying around excess belly fat. What I got from the article is that you need to lose your belly fat, if you have any. 

She opened the article with, “did you know that a big belly is as dangerous to your health as smoking a pack of cigarettes daily or having high cholesterol?” 

I have heard that statement before, but Lisa went on to tell about a study the Mayo Clinic research team did on CAD patients with central obesity (inner tube around the waist).  I have posted the result below. 

She went on to write that, “People with clogged arteries and a wide waistline are nearly twice as likely to die prematurely, even if their body mass index (BMI) is normal.”  This was in accordance to a study published in the May 10 issue of Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
 
She wrote, “that one of the Mayo Clinic researchers’ most surprising findings was that as BMI went up, risk of death from CAD actually went down, thus confirming the so-called “obesity paradox” observed in some earlier studies.” 

The Mayo Clinic researchers have been diligently studying the hazards of obesity in relations to BMI.  “The study compared measures of overall obesity (BMI) and measures of central obesity (waist-to-hip ratio and waist circumference).” 

The study had some alarming conclusion.  It found that, “CAD patients with central obesity (belly fat) were 70 percent more likely to die during the study period, which had an average of 2.3 years of follow-up.” the bottom line is that if you have excessive belly fat, you need to lose weight.

The study also shed some light on the following 3 points: 

(1).   There are people with belly fat whose weight may look normal but their bodies behave like they are obese, due to belly fat. 

(2).   Many of these people are unaware that they’re at increased risk for heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

(3).  If your waist circumference or waist-to-hip ratio are too high, slimming down could save your life. Shedding as little as five percent of your body weight (7.5 pounds for a 150 pound person) improves blood pressure and cholesterol and helps prevent diabetes and heart disease. You’ll also look and feel better.

I don't know what your weight or physical condition is like; however, if you are carrying excessive belly fat around your waist, you may wan to lose that belly fat now. Now that you are committed to winning the weight loss battle and have started walking and increasing the length and duration of your walks, it is a good idea to incorporate safety into your walks.  This may be in the form of some good walking shoes and learning some proper stretching techniques. 

I don’t think taking a leisurely walk around the block for 10 minutes requires any stretching; however, if you are not used to walking continuously for 20 to 30 minutes at a time you may want to stretch and do some warm up exercise.

By the way leisurely walks for 15 to 30 minutes at a time continuously, is a great way to stimulate your heart and your lungs towards being healthy and winning the weight loss battle. As you get stronger you can increase the pace of your walk.

If you’re not able to do some stretching exercises, the following may help you avoid pain and cramps.  Massaging the bottom of your feet before and after each walk is a good way to keep the blood flowing and may prevent cramping.

Another good technique to stimulate blood flow is to palm your lower body, before and after walking.  You can do this from a sitting or standing position.  Lightly pat down your whole lower body for 3 to 5 minutes using the palm of your hands.

You can start with your hip or your butt and work your way down to your ankles and work your way back up.  You can do one leg at a time or both at the same time.  Go ahead and pat down the inside, outside, front and back of each leg.

Let’s say you were going to walk 400 yards, if you have markers, you would walk 50 yards leisurely, then the next 50 yards briskly and so on, till you finish the 400 yards walk.  When you’ve walked 400 yards 3 to 4 times for the week, extend the distance to 500 then 600 then 700 yards etc.

Do spacing 3 to 4 times a week and increase the distance of your walk each week until you’re walking continuously for 45 minutes to an hour.  Once you’re walking 30 to 35 minutes continuously you may want to change you spacing from distance to minutes.

Here you may walk leisurely for 3 minutes and then briskly for 9 to 10 minutes.  Switch it around and do what’s comfortable for you.

We don’t want you to be in pain at the end of your walks and having you quit.  Consistent, continuous walking 3 to 4 days a week will increase your health and ultimately you will see the weight falling off.

Please, whatever you do don’t starve yourself and don’t go on cottage cheese diets and any other unhealthy diet plan.  Do increase your water intake and even drink a glass of water 5 to 10 minutes before eating. 

Also increase your fiber intake.  A heaping teaspoon full of psyllium husk in a glass of water or juice  or lemonade 2 times a day will do wonders for you to help you in winning your weight loss battle.

The bottom line here is to concentrate on safely keeping up with your walks.  You may want to get you some good walking shoes and maybe even subscribe to a walking magazine online or a walking club.

I just read an article called “6 Ways To Win The Weight Battle By Alexandra Gekas, Woman's Day Tue, May 10, 2011.  It is one of the best articles I have read about healthy weight loss and weight management in a while.

I like the article because the author talks about practical common sense ways to losing weight and managing it. Simple things that works but most people takes for granted and don’t do.

The author addresses the six most important ways to use the mind-body connection to help your weight-loss efforts rather than hinder them.  She addresses the mental, physical and emotional intelligence behind losing weight. 

Her “6 Ways to Win The Weight Battle” are:

*** Start small and build slowly
*** Focus on fitness, not thinness
*** Accept that diets don’t help you in the long run
*** Concentrate on commitment more than intensity
*** Stop obsessing about your weight
*** Make friends with food

*** Start small and build slowly: An example of this could be to set a goal of maybe walking 3 blocks 3-4 times a week in a month. 
Your 1st week on Monday and Wednesday you walk 1 block and on Friday you add ½ to 1 block.  If possible walk with someone or a pet.  If you’re in a relationship with someone, this is an excellent time to do some bonding.  Go walk together and hold hands.

The 2nd week, Monday and Wednesday do the same amount you did last Friday. On Friday add another block if possible.  Don’t overdo it though; we don’t want you to be in pain at the end of your walk.

For week 3 and 4, repeat the pattern from week one and two.  At the end of week 4, if you’re successful, just repeat the whole goal over, this time extend the number of city blocks you want to walk.
